Named Successor Fellow in 2006, Jeffrey L. Bewkes is president and chief operating officer of Time Warner, Inc. After graduating from Yale and earning an M.B.A. from Stanford Graduate School of Business, he worked in banking for two years and then joined Home Box Office, where he rose through the ranks and became chief executive officer in 1995. Named chairman in charge of the Entertainment and Networks Group after AOL merged with Time Warner, Mr. Bewkes oversaw Time Warner's television, film, and music interests, including HBO, CNN, Warner Bros., New Line Cinema, Turner Broadcasting System, and Warner Music. He assumed his current position in 2005. Mr. Bewkes serves on the boards of the Council on Foreign Relations, the American Museum of the Moving Image, Channel Thirteen/WNET, and Time Warner Cable, and on the advisory boards of the Stanford Graduate School of Business, the American Museum of Natural History, the Creative Coalition, and the Museum of Television & Radio. He is a former member of the University Council.
