Elected Alumni Fellow in 2002, Maya Lin divides her time equally between art and
architecture. In 1981 she designed the acclaimed Vietnam Veterans Memorial on the Mall

degree in 1986. She established her own studio in New York City and has gone on to
create artworks, memorials, and architectural projects that have gained her an
international reputation. Ms. Lin's artwork is represented by Gagosian Gallery in
New York City. She is a board member of the Natural Resources Defense Council and
has served on the board of the Energy Foundation. She has also served on the boards
of the Southern Poverty Law Center's Teaching Tolerance Project and the Kennedy Museum
of Art at Ohio University, and on the advisory panel of the Studio in a School in New York.
